Black River & Western Railroad (New Jersey)
Black River & Western Railroad - Ringoes / Flemington, New Jersey
Photos from 2012 through 2017 featuring Great Western 2-8-0 #60 (Alco built 1937) between Ringoes, Flemington, and Three Bridges, NJ. The BR&W began as a tourist railroad in 1965 by leasing the Pennsylvania Railroad branch between Lambertville and Flemington (built by the Belvidere-Delaware in 1854). Today, tourist trains usually operate between Ringoes and Flemington (central section of the line), freight is interchanged with Norfolk Southern at Three Bridges (north end), and the line is undergoing restoration between Ringoes and Lambertville (south end). Engine #60, which made its first run on the BR&W in 1965 but later sat idle since 2001, officially returned to service in November 2012. For more, visit the Black River & Western Railroad Website.
