SP Daylight 4449 WB (Michigan to Oregon)
Southern Pacific Daylight 4449 - Owosso, MI back home to Portland, OR after TrainFestival 2009
In July 2009, SP Daylight 4-8-4 #4449 (Lima built 1941) led a cross-country excursion to TrainFestival 2009, a celebration of railroad history in Michigan. After appearing at the festival, 4449 made its way to Minneapolis for autumn excursions down the Mississippi, followed by a westbound return trip to Portland in October. This gallery features photos from each day of the trip west, including the Great Plains, Glacier National Park, Columbia River Gorge, and more.
